Surface Area to Volume Ratio
Module Description:
This module was created by the Center for Nanotechnology Education (Nano-Link) and introduces students to surface area to volume ratio concepts. "This simple activity conveys one of the most profound aspects of Nanoscience - that for a given volume of material the total surface area increases non-linearly as the volume is divided into smaller and smaller pieces."
Module Contents:
Module contents include an instructor lesson guide, a PowerPoint presentation, and two lesson standards alignment documents. The 10-page guide includes background information about surface area to volume ratio, a learning activity, discussion questions, resources, and more. The PowerPoint presentation also includes background information.
Versions in Spanish are also included for most of the module documents.
For orientation purposes SurfaceAreaToVolumeRatio-Module - Nano-Link.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this module.
