Normandale Community College (NCC) will host a two-day, Plasma-Aided Manufacturing Workshop for high school, community college and university faculty involved in technician education on March 19th and 20th, 2009. This workshop is funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education Program. The two-day workshop will cover the following topics: • Introduction to Plasma Physics • Plasma Sources • Transmission Line Fundamentals • RF Delivery & Impedance Matching • Sputtering as a Manufacturing Process. The workshop will be divided between classroom presentations/discussions and hands-on laboratory sessions. Participants will view demonstrations and perform experiments in NCC’s Plasma Technology Laboratory. The workshop will begin at 8:30 am on, March 19th, and conclude at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 20th. NCC’s grant will cover the cost of all workshop materials, lodging for 3 nights, meals, and local transportation in Bloomington, MN.
