ACABT Year Two So Far (July 2023 - June 2024)
Workshop:
In coordination with the local CBO Employ Milwaukee the ACABT team facilitated two half-day workshops in November and December of 2023. More than 100 participants took part in a hands-on activity where they learned how to monitor and measure both AC and DC energy currents. In addition, participants heard from a graduate of the BAS program who currently has a successful career in Facilities Maintenance.
July 2023: In coordination with the local CBO, Journey House, the ACABT Team facilitated a 1/2 day workshop for approximately 25 high school seniors and juniors interested in careers in BAS. In addition to a hands-on activity where they learned how to monitor and measure both AC and DC energy currents, participants learned about MATC, the BAS curriculum, and BAS digital badges. Industry partners provided presentations describing what it was like to have a career in BAS.
Community Outreach Activities:
November 2023: Ted Wilinski ACABT (PI) presented to the superintendent, counselors and science teachers of the St. Francis High School discussing the BAS program and described professional development opportunities that would help spread the word and support the work of the Building Automated Services prorgram.
October, 2023: ACABT team attended an open House at MATC's Walker’s Square campus, located in an community that is currently considered under-resourced Team members interacted with approximately 200 individuals, describing the BAS program, its certificaions, and employment potential.
October 2023: ACABT Team and BAS students attended the Wisconsin Energy Efficiency Expo to showcase and promote the BAS program. Contacts were made across an intersection of energy relevant employers and industry partners, including slipstream and WE Energies. Presentations were provided with an overview of new technologies, services and/or products
