Associate Professor Amber Johnson, PI

Amber Johnson is an Associate Professor in Simulation and Game Development at Wake Tech Community College. She has worked in the game industry as an artist and level designer since 2007. She began teaching at Wake Tech in 2014, developing curriculum that utilizes modern game asset creation techniques. She currently teaches courses in digital art, game programming, photogrammetry, tech art, and VR. On top of teaching she does freelance work in photogrammetry and interactive 3d environments.

Department Head Ken Turner

When not saving the world from alien hordes, Ken manages Wake Tech’s award winning Simulation and Game Development program. Ken is a consummate game professional. With a career that spans more than 20 years, he has worked on over a dozen AAA titles and has credits in many titles and simulations. Within the realm of QA, Ken has worked with many developers such as Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft, Destineer, Atomic, High Voltage, Villain, and various branches of the Federal and State government. He has held a variety of positions within QA from contract tester up to QA Manager and has worked in a producer capacity on several simulations.

Ken is known as a knowledgeable and easy-to-talk-to person who has spoken at conferences and lectures about how to get into the industry. He trains prospective QA professionals as well as provides advice and mentoring within the QA field. He also likes the color red.

Assistant Professor Aurore Locklear

Aurore Locklear is a programming instructor in the Simulation and Game Development Department at Wake Tech. She earned a master's degree in Engineering Sciences at the French Military Academy of Saint-Cyr. After moving to the United States, she taught French to Special Forces soldiers and later Mathematics in Middle School. Her interests in education have led her to earn an associate degree in Simulation and Game Development at Fayetteville Technical Community College where she taught Simulation and Game Development courses after graduation. She enjoys creating educational games in her spare time.
