Mentor-Connect provides comprehensive support to community and technical colleges and their faculty, helping them prepare and submit competitive NSF ATE grant proposals. This support includes mentoring, instruction, technical assistance, and resources to navigate the NSF funding process and effectively implement funded projects. The ultimate goal is to advance technician education and foster STEM faculty leaders in advanced technological education. ATE grants play a crucial role in enhancing faculty skills and building institutional capacity to address the growing demand for a skilled technical workforce. Despite the progress made by previous awards in areas such as reducing barriers and expanding mentoring capacity, many two-year colleges have not yet benefited from the ATE Program. Mentor-Connect aims to enhance technician education by involving a broader range of geographically and demographically diverse two-year institutions and STEM faculty with the ATE Program. It also seeks to promote the use of ATE-developed resources, support the submission of grant proposals by both new and previous grantee institutions, cultivate leaders and mentors among ATE funding recipients, and assist new principal investigators in becoming successful grantees.
