Reactivity of Iron
This three-page activity guide from Edmonds Community College provides a laboratory activity teaching students about the reactivity of iron. Students observe the reactivity of iron in flame and water, and observe two types of iron oxidation. This activity demonstrates the effects different material processing techniques have on iron. The demonstration of corrosion and rusting shows students how iron interacts with its environment. The module sections include MatEdU Core Competencies, Equipment and Supplies Needed, Experimental Process, and Evaluation Questions.
