The Odd Behavior of Rubber Bands
In this four-page laboratory module from Edmonds Community College, students explore the structure of a rubber band in a thirty-minute in-class activity. Students will observe the effects of temperature and stretching on rubber bands. After completing this activity, students will be able to "compare the properties and applications of thermoset plastics," apply basic concepts of heat, and identify the "effects of processing and manufacturing variations on material properties." This module contains, but is not limited to, the following sections: Objectives, MatED Core Competencies Addressed, Experimental Process, Student Evaluation Questions, and Instructor Evaluation Questions.
