IDS/IPS: Part 1
This video, presented by instructor Tony Hills from the Cybersecurity Education for Advanced Manufacturing Organizations project, is the first of four videos that introduces the topics of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) in the context of industrial network security. During the video, Hills explains the key differences between the two, with an IDS designed to identify potentially harmful activity and alert administrators, while an IPS actively works to block such activity. Hills also outlines the objectives of the series, including a comparison of host-based and network-based systems, signature-based versus anomaly-based detection, and the handling of false positives and negatives.
This video runs 5:45 minutes in length. Additional videos from the series and a related training scenario are available to view separately.
