Python and Geospatial Technology, Buffer Lesson (Module 3 of 9)
This video, provided by the GeoTech Center, is from the third module of the Python and Geospatial Mapping course, titled Python and Geospatial Technology. The course is designed for experienced users of Global Information Systems (GIS) platforms who are new to programming, with the goal of teaching them how to use Python to automate processes through the construction of short scripts in ArcGIS Pro.
In this video, Vince DiNoto, the director of the GeoTech Center, provides an overview of the buffer command from arcpy, a geospatial Python command library included with ArcGIS Pro. The buffer command creates radii of different sizes around specific data points on a map. DiNoto guides viewers through a script that employs the command to create a 25 mile wide radius around college campuses in the United States.
The video runs 2:57 minutes in length. Additional resources from the Python and Geospatial Mapping course are available to view separately.
