Continuous Program Improvement & Opportunities for Resource Development With Brian Lovell

This presentation, provided by the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center, is from the BEST Center's 2022 Annual Institute. During the presentation, Brian Lovell, Co-Principle investigator at the BEST center, discusses the development of buildings automation systems (BAS) technical programs and workforce training. Lovell provides an overview, including the advantages and disadvantages, of three models of BAS programs: non-credit BAS program, stand-alone BAS program, and BAS as major / elective. Additionally, Lovell walks through various financial resources for program funding, such as Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Perkins Collaborative Resource Network (PCRN) grants, county level funding opportunities, and more. Also discussed are marketing resources and advice to retain BAS instructors.
