Gameful Mentorship
This presentation from the National Convergence Technology Center took place at the online Winter Working Connections professional development event. In the video, Taylor Slocum describes the Gameful Mentorship program at Columbus State Community College. The program emphasizes learning through gamification, which is the application of game-design elements for non-game concepts. Throughout the program, students play games where they learn and apply career competencies, as well as network with industry professionals. Slocum explores a virtual escape room activity for technical interview and teambuilding practice, a shark tank activity for practicing an elevator pitch, and a Jeopardy activity for technical interviewing. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) career competencies are also highlighted. The video recording runs 31:07 minutes in length.
