Building Equitable Learning Environments in CTE and STEM
This webinar, from the HSI ATE HUB, provides "guidance, strategies, and interventions for faculty and administrators in CTE and STEM to foster an equitable learning environment" and employ a culturally responsive instruction model. In the video, the Educators' Equity in STEM (EESTEM) II project and National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) culture wheel are highlighted. Asset-based learning strategies that engage women, students of color, students with disabilities, single parents, and displaced workers are also provided by North Idaho College and Dona Ana Community College. Providing internet access, modifying curriculum, and facilitating research experiences are also discussed. The NAPE Affinity Group's framework for building equitable learning environments is then explored. Finally, project outcomes are highlighted, which illustrate a growth in self-efficacy, asset-based learning, and success for marginalized students. Presenters include Gregory Jackson, Kathy Albin, German Moreno, and Jon Juarez. The video recording runs 1:33:29 minutes in length.
