Fabrication Graphics: Crane Builder

Lesson Description:

This lesson is from a welding course and is provided by the Contextualize to Learn project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During the lesson, students create a bill of materials including detailed part weight. Topics include calculating weights based on per foot weight of standard beams, and volume of steel plates. The lesson connects weight calculations to cost, part fabrication, and installation.

The expected total time for the lesson is four class periods.
