Lasers in Forensic Science and Homeland Security
This 55-page resource, developed by the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC), is one of three modules that cover forensic science and homeland security. These modules pertain "to the imaging component in homeland security as a photonics-enabled technology." This module "covers the basics of laser light, laser types in forensic science, laser fingerprint identification, photographing fingerprints, laser ablation and analysis of minute samples, microscopy in forensic science, laser-assisted DNA sequencing, biometrics, and 3D imaging." This module includes the following sections: Introduction, Prerequisites, Objectives, Scenario, A Review of Basics, Optics and Photonics in Forensic Science and Homeland Security, Laboratory, Problem Exercises, and more. Two other forensic science and homeland security modules are available to view separately.
