Motor Drive Deceleration and Braking Methods (Part 1 of 2)
This video, provided by Columbia Gorge Community College, is the first part of a two part lecture that examines the methods of motor drives to decelerate a motor and applied load. The methods discussed in this lecture include: "coasting or free spin to stop, spring applied electrically released friction brakes, DC injection braking, and two types of dynamic braking: regenerative braking and dynamic braking making use of braking resistors." The methods are compared and contrasted and combination or variation methods are also discussed. This video runs 11:04 minutes in length. The second part of the lecture is available to view separately.
