This 112-page manual is provided by the Northwest Center for Sustainable Resources and is part of a series on community-based education. This manual provides lessons, tools, and resources to connect students with communities. The manual is divided into ten sections: Acknowledgement, Introduction, Community-Based Education, Community as a Context for Learning, Educational Processes, Accessing the Community, Information Gathering, Community Participation, Activities, and Appendix A – NCSR Background. The Activities section includes Biosphere, Ecosystems, Populations, Cells, Genetics, Evolution, Classification, Bacteria, Fungi, Plants, Animals, and Human Impact.
