NACK Webinar: Self-Powered Wearable Devices for Monitoring Personal Health

This Self-Powered Wearable Devices for Monitoring Personal Health webinar and corresponding presentation slides, from the Nanotechnology Applications and Career Knowledge Support Center (NACK), were presented by Veena Misra of Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) on June 13, 2016. The webinar discusses the current limitations of wearable devices, which are "electronic technologies or computers that are incorporated into items of clothing and accessories." These limitations are very high power consumption, limited functionality, and inaccurate data. In the context of today's health climate and healthcare needs, the speaker introduces the vision of ASSIST to use nanotechnology to enhance wearable devices to impact healthcare and manage wellness. Misra outlines ASSIST's efforts to build "self-powered, wearable, wireless, multiple sensor platforms that enable: long term monitoring of personal health and environment, correlation of multiple sensors, and increased compliance through hassle-free usage."

The recorded webinar is 1 hour and 3 minutes long.
