Program Description:

The Sustainable Facilities Operation Associate Degree program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), is designed to help prepare students to manage facility operations in roles such as energy manager, facilities manager, maintenance supervisor, and many more. The program places "emphasis ... on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management."

Instructor Guide Description:

SUSTN 104: Energy Auditing and Managing Energy Use is one of eight classes in the Sustainable Facilities Operations Program. This 36-page instructor guide outlines this accelerated course that "takes students through the energy auditing process." This guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities intended to encourage class participation, which help students gain an understanding of "energy use analysis and documentation; and American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers procedures for commercial building energy audits." Topics to cover, as they are suggested in the guide, include: billing analysis, audit reports, and client relationships. The instructor guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students to "understand detailed gas and electric bills, analyze energy billing data, and conduct a simple walkthrough of a building to collect appropriate information for an audit."

A program guide and other course guides are available to view separately.
