Program Description:

The Sustainable Facilities Operation Associate Degree program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), is designed to help prepare students to manage facility operations in roles such as energy manager, facilities manager, maintenance supervisor, and many more. The program places "emphasis ... on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management."

Instructor Guide Description:

SUSTN 103: The Commissioning Process is one of eight classes in the Sustainable Facilities Operations Program. This 22-page instructor guide outlines this college-level accelerated course that "takes students through the Commissioning (Cx) Process." The guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities to encourage class participation, all focused on helping students gain an understanding of the "four phases, the four types, and the benefits," of Cx, as well as "LEED rating system." The guide also contains a sample presentation on Cx for sustainability and energy efficiency. Used as a starter, the instructor guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students to "apply / perform Cx on a building system," as well as "explain owner project requirements, basis of design, system manuals, and simple functional performance tests."

A program guide and other course guides are available to view separately.
