ENRG 55A: HVAC Fundamentals and Components
Course Description:
This HVAC Fundamentals and Components course was developed by Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center and is part of the Commercial Building Energy Analysis and Audits program at the City College of San Francisco. This course teaches the fundamentals and concepts of HVAC with an emphasis on types of equipment and conveyance. Topics covered in this course include conversion of units; concept of work power, and energy; psychrometric processes and calculations; thermodynamic laws and heat transfer principles; sensible and latent heat changes, load calculations, and more.
Course Contents:
Course materials include a 3-page course syllabus, a 5-page course outline record, and three PowerPoint presentations. The syllabus includes a course description, learning outcomes, course topics, and a list of assignments.
The course outline record includes a course justification, a course description, major learning outcomes, course topics, and information on instructional methodology.
The PowerPoint presentations include information on course topics.
