Applying Research-Based Instructional Methods in the Classroom
This paper, from the American Society for Engineering Education, discusses the NSF ATE-funded Applying Research-Based Instructional Methods in the Classroom project at Sinclair Community College. The project, led by Professor Houdeshell, focuses on the "application and evaluation of research-based instructional methods by two-year engineering technology faculty in their courses." The paper addresses findings around community college faculty discussions of what constitutes 'rigorous research' in engineering and technology education, the value to instructors of learning to do this kind of research, existing opportunities to learn these skills, as well as the difference between research and assessment.
