Tempered For Safety
This seven-page guide from Edmonds Community College provides an instructional module on tempered safety glass. In this activity, the instructor demonstrates the fracture toughness of tempered glass. This demonstration shows how glass is toughened and introduces the concept of the fractography of glass to students. This activity introduces basic engineering design and materials science concepts. The module can be adjusted for use in classrooms from the elementary school to college level.
