Silicon Run Deposition
This 31-minute video, one of seven in a series on semiconductors, provides a look at the thin-film deposition process. Industrial footage and animation show the chemical and physical reactions used to create the many layers of an integrated circuit. The video includes animations and close-up views to illustrate the chemical reactions and processes used in deposition. Students will need a substantial background in chemistry, physics, and some aspects of semiconductor processing to fully understand and appreciate the material. Recommended for use as a follow up to classroom discussion, not as the initial introduction to the deposition process. The video is available for purchase.
