Composite Column Design

This seven-page laboratory activity guide from Edmonds College introduces undergraduate students to how materials properties are used in engineering design. This modular laboratory activity spans 3-5 class sessions. In the activity, students simulate the use of composite columns and use spreadsheets to optimize design for performance. Students learn about composite design, fabrication, and evaluation.
