The objective of the Efficient Learning Initiative is to increase the success of post-secondary students pursuing one of five enhanced IT degrees through curriculum redesign and improved student support model for postsecondary students.

Efficient Learning

Through the third grant year, courses were updated as new textbook/publisher resources change significantly and/or become available.  Two of the seven courses in this grant were re-written for updated textbooks, content, or certification requirements (CIS-2640 and CIS-2731).  In addition, CIS-1130 is scheduled for an update in the spring of 2022.

Existing Sinclair programs (College Credit Plus and TechPrep) develop relationships with area secondary schools in Southwest Ohio.  Through these established programs, providing and updating technology curriculum to the High Schools is a smooth process.

Updated course content based on textbook, content and/or certification changes.

In conjunction with the ApprenticeOhio program, Sinclair College is partnering with the Montgomery County government to develop educational and apprenticeship opportunities in the Westown Employment Opportunity Center.  The Grants team leadership created a shot-term IT fundamentals certificate that includes five of the seven Grant related courses.  The IT fundamentals certificate has been approved by ApprenticeOhio for inclusion in the program.  The IT Fundamentals certificate is a steppingstone toward apprenticeship opportunities as well as a path toward an Associates Degree from Sinclair College.  Facility construction was expected to be completed during the summer of 2021.
