INTRODUCTION
A malfunction in an industrial door lock circuit can halt operations and cost thousands in downtime within just hours. High-stakes scenarios like these are why mastery of system diagnostics is essential in the field. Drawing on your knowledge of electrical theory and schematic analysis, you will now tackle a challenge that mirrors the real demands of a technician’s role. This assignment will strengthen your ability to troubleshoot and document faults in a door lock circuit with precision and confidence.
RESCHEDULE AND RETAKE WARNING
Failure to do any of the items below will result in the instructor stopping the assessment. If the assessment is stopped, you will need to reschedule and retake the assessment. If a retake is required, the points possible will be reduced.
- Schedule the lab with your instructor in advance.
- Be on time.
- Follow the Automation Department's dress code policy, which mirrors industry-standard expectations (see the syllabus for details).
- Wear appropriate PPE.
- Follow all safety procedures as needed, especially Lockout/Tagout.
- Correctly solve the fault in the system within the given time limit.
